Directions to Our Practice
For anyone who’s never been to our practice before, we can help you find it! We’ll use two very familiar local starting points: the library and the high school.
- Starting from the Taylorsville Library, get onto 2700 W heading south, then turn right onto 5400 S. Turn left onto Bangerter Highway. Exit right at exit 13, right after Jordan Landing, and watch for us coming up on your left. We’re right after the Quick Quack car wash at 3855 W 7800 S.
- If you’re starting from at or near the high school, get onto Redwood heading south. Keep going for just over 2 miles, then turn right onto 7000 S, at the intersection with the Smith’s. Continue for another mile, and keep going when 7000 S turns into Jordan Landing Blvd. Follow the winding road along the west side of Jordan Landing, then turn left onto 7800 S. We’ll be coming up on your right. If you reach the Quick Quack, you went too far!
How Much of Taylorsville History Do You Know?
Taylorsville, a city with deep historical roots in the central part of Salt Lake County, emerged from the unification of two historic communities, Taylorsville and Bennion, in 1996 during Utah’s centennial statehood anniversary. This area, characterized by its unique alluvial plain formed from the erosion of nearby mountains and shaped by the ancient Lake Bonneville, presents a landscape rich in history and natural beauty. Beneath its surface lies a thick layer of unconsolidated rock, sand, and clay, evidence of its geological past, including the inactive Taylorsville Fault.
Long before it got its modern name, the region was inhabited by the Fremont people, who hunted and gathered along the Jordan River. The area’s first European visitors are believed to have been Spanish missionaries and explorers in the mid-17th century, leading to a mix of Spanish and later Mexican claims until the United States acquired the territory in 1853.
The establishment of Taylorsville began with the Mormon pioneers, who settled the area in the late 1840s, seeking fertile land for farming. Despite initial struggles with the soil’s alkalinity and the threat of attacks from local Native American tribes, the settlers persevered, building forts for protection and creating irrigation systems to support agriculture. By the mid-19th century, Taylorsville and Bennion were thriving agricultural communities, underscored by the establishment of schools, mills, and the pivotal irrigation canals that transformed the arid land into productive farms.
As Taylorsville grew, it retained its strong sense of community and dedication to agriculture, evolving over time into the city it is today — a place deeply connected to its pioneering roots and rich history, now part of the larger narrative of Salt Lake County and the state of Utah.
